Abby's Ideas

Storyboarding is becoming more and more having to do with powerpoint on promethean boards. The teachers use text, audio, video, graphics, etc. with powerpoint. When I am in the classrooms observing the students really do learn better than if teachers just stood up and talked for hours on end. It's really cool the way kindergarten can sit still for so long and listen to everything going on. Also in the upper grades a lot of teachers will give the students pages that look like a comic book and they have to draw and write what's going on in that book at that particular time, so they have to pay attention. It's awesome how our classrooms are becoming so technology advanced these days. It's weird to me because when I talk to 5th graders about what in their classrooms now, I think back to when I was in elementary school and I had basically none of it. But all in all storyboarding is soon going to be not there that much anymore because there will be so much new technology later in the years.

I'm a bit confused. Do all of your posts go together in one?

Good points about how technology is always changing. Even though it is always changing, I still think that storyboards will remain around for awhile. I think that they are a great way to be organized in a classroom both for students and teachers.

Reading your article made ME think back to when i was in grade school, and i completely agree with you! Everything has changed SO MUCH!! And it doesnt seem like it was really all that long ago. I mean, yea, we used computer, and we had them and all, but not to the degree that teachers are using them today. Honestly, we just didnt have as much acess to them. There was only one computer lab, and the teachers had to book them waaaay in advance. I guess as computers are becoming more avaisble and affordable, teachers have more acces s for their students to use them. When i wasdoing my observation hours last semester, i was informed that some students were even given computers for their homes because they could not financially afford to purchase one themselves. This is an important factor today because while we are increasing the ue of technology in education, not all of the students have the money to participate in any otf this outside of school.

If you are appreciating the way the storyboards are capturing the attention on students I believe it is safe to say that they will still be around and will the compliment the advances in technology that you mentioned. Great insight on how even the younger students can enjoy it!

Your right about technology always changing. If you stop and think about how much it has changed since we were in those different grade levels you will be surprised. When I go into some classrooms these days to observe and everything I am always surprised by the new techonolgy that these teachers have. Good article!

I was in a highschool classroom today to observe, and the teacher used the white board, power point presentation and the book. It was really neat to see everything working so well together. When you sit in the class that long for the block schedule you need all the help you can get

Hey, I wasn't sure of the blog layout but i believe that everyone in the team had an input on the page. I thought that was very creative and showed a lot of diversity in the content. It was informative on what storyboarding is, the advantages, the uses. Great work.
